Editing audio or music in Google Slides might seem a bit tricky at first, but it’s easier than you think. Plus, adding that perfect tune or sound effect can make your presentation so much more engaging. In this blog, I’ll walk you through the steps and sprinkle in some pro tips to make your life simpler. Ready? Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Insert Your Audio

First things first, you need to have audio in your slide. If you haven’t done this yet, check out our blog on How to Add Music to Google Slides for a quick guide. Once your audio is in place, it’s time to get editing.

Step 2: Selecting the Audio

Click on the audio icon on your slide. This will bring up a toolbar with several options. If you don’t see it, click “Format options” on the top menu.

Step 3: Adjust Playback Settings

In the “Format options” panel, you’ll see playback settings. Here, you can choose to:

  • Start on Click: Play the audio when you click.
  • Play Automatically: Have the audio start as soon as the slide appears.
  • Loop: Repeat the audio until you move to the next slide.

Step 4: Customize Volume and Fade

In the “Audio playback” section, you have the option to change the volume to your liking. There’s also an option to fade in and out, which is perfect if you want a smooth transition.

Step 5: Trim the Audio

Google Slides allows basic trimming of audio. You can specify the start and end times for the audio to play. This is super handy if you only need a specific part of the track.

Step 6: Hide the Audio Icon

If the audio icon is distracting, you can hide it. Simply click on the icon, go to “Format options,” and check the box that says “Hide icon when presenting.”

Pro Tips for a Better Experience

  • Premade Templates: Consider using premade Google Slide Templates available online. They can save you a ton of time and give your presentation a professional touch.
  • Consistency: Make sure the audio theme stays uniform throughout your presentation for a cohesive experience.
  • Test It Out: Always preview your presentation to make sure the audio works as expected.
